A new aquaculture adventure on the Helgeland coast

On the Helgeland coast, we're about to write a new chapter in the Norwegian aquaculture adventure. People here have always had a close relationship with the sea, and for generation after generation we have benefited from what the sea has to offer. But the sea isn't just a part of our past - it's also the key to future wealth and growth.

To ensure that we can continue to make a living from the sea, we are investing in exciting new technology and new working methods. This bodes well for the local economy and jobs, both here and throughout the region. But remember, it all depends on a sustainable approach that ensures future generations also get to experience the gold of the sea.

With a growing population, the need for more healthy and tasty food is also increasing. This is where the aquaculture industry comes in as an important player. To achieve the ambitious goals set by politicians, industry and society, projects like Helgeland Miljøfisk are important. They create new opportunities and values along the beautiful Helgeland coast.

The Toft environment

Toft in Brønnøy is the place where the future has been shaped for a whole century, since the first store opened its doors in 1924. Torghatten Aqua is one of the many exciting businesses here that are inspired by the sea:

  • Campus BLUE offers education and courses for the seafood industry. It's a place for upper secondary school, vocational school and a course centre. And it doesn't stop there - there's also talk of starting a separate folk high school with a focus on the blue.
  • Norwegian Aquaculture Centre shows how fish farming works, and offers both accommodation in beautiful fishermen's cabins and a restaurant where you can taste the result of the work - delicious fish and seafood.

With Campus BLÅ and the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre, Toft has become a powerhouse for knowledge and education in the seafood industry. This is where the next generation of fish farmers and aquaculturists are being moulded.

The local environment

We are proud local players, deeply rooted in Toftøya, Brønnøy and the Helgeland coast. We understand that business development and well-being go hand in hand. That's why we listen to all voices - from locals, sports clubs and everyone who values the area. Our goal is to create a forward-looking, sustainable and innovative workplace that promotes growth and well-being. When our facility is complete, we hope that Toftøya and Brønnøy will be proud of what we have achieved together.

From day one, we've had a close dialogue with the sports and outdoor life community, and also with the local community that uses the area where our plant will be located. We're planning a compact but not overly tall facility that will be as gentle on the landscape as an industrial plant can be.

Southern Helgeland needs more skilled jobs to attract more people to live and work here. Throughout both the construction and operational phases, the establishment of Helgeland Miljøfisk will create significant ripple effects for local subcontractors.

We look forward to building a brighter future together with you.
